40 Days With Jesus

“Written as if Jesus is speaking to you personally, 40 Days with Jesus is designed to help you deepen your relationship with Gos. Each day of this journey will offer you a reminder that He is always with you.”

This is a booklet written by Sarah Young with excerpts from her other devotional books.

I am embarking on this journey this year for the Lenten time before Easter.

It always amazes me when God speaks. I don’t know why, but it does. This weekend I was at a youth conference. The speaker spoke of trusting God to look after you – getting out of the boat – in all things, and I realized that it was only by His strength that I managed to be a youth leader at all! He gives me what I need, when I trust him.
And then I read about peace on Day 1, just after I received His peace that I He is using me, in spite of my weakness!
Thank you, Lord, for your Peace.

As I take a rare moment to just sit in the arms of my lover, I read about the enfolding love of God – and I totally get it!

  3. triwriter45 says:

One day at a time. I am constantly nneding to be reminded that God is in control and I need to spend more time in the present than planning for the future.

  4. triwriter45 says:

Today I am reminded to relax. God will take care of the details. I don’t often relax.

  5. triwriter45 says:

I was created to be thankful. Every moment. There is so much to be thankful for, but I am not usually looking for it. I must remember – I was created to be thankful.

  6. triwriter45 says:

“Stop thinking about what you would do if something bad happened, and rely on God for your strength.” That is exactly what I do – all the time – try to think of what I would do if the unthinkable should happen. I need to trust God to take care of every moment.
Thank you, God, for reminding me of that tonight.

  7. triwriter45 says:

Today I am encouraged to be content with Jesus. How do I become content with what I have? By being thankful.

  8. triwriter45 says:

I have never thought that my routine could be my idol. Filling my days with lots of things and doing the same things every week could be preventing me from truely listening to God and doing what He wants me to do. I need to look at why I do the things I do. Is it because that is what I have scheduled for this time? Or am I listening to God and doing what He wants me to?

  9. triwriter45 says:

Today I am exhorted that sharing God’s suffering is a part of sharing His Glory. What If I have not suffered? Am I not living for God if I am not suffering for Him? The suffering WILL come. Why, in 30 years as a Christian, has it not come yet?

  10. triwriter45 says:

Phillipians 4:6-7 tells me when I bring my petitions to God with thanksgiving, He will give me peace. I have never thought of that verse in that way before. He does not promise to answer my wishes. He promises to give me peace.

  11. triwriter45 says:

God arranges to meet me everyday. He arranges to meet me where I need Him.
Where will I meet Him today? Will I recognize Him? Will I be thankful?
Where did I meet Him yesterday? The day before that?

  12. triwriter45 says:

God’s love for me is everlasting. That means he not only has loved me from before I was born – He will continue to love me – forever! That is amazing!

  13. triwriter45 says:

Keep your feet on the ground and your eye on heaven.

  14. triwriter45 says:

Open your mind and your heart to receive God’s love. Is it my heart or my mind that needs to be opened more? And how do I do that?
With Praise. I open my heart with praise.

  15. triwriter45 says:

God is with me. That is the most important fact of my existence. Therefore, I can live each day fully – today. There is no need to waste energy on the worries of tomorrow or the regrets of yesterday. But what about the preparation for tomorrow? If I live only for today, I will not be ready for the challenge of tomorrow.
God will prepare me today for what I need for tomorrow. He has promised me that.
    I need to trust Him.

  16. triwriter45 says:

Everything in my world is changing but God. He is the one constant in my life.
But my relationship with God must be constantly changing.
“I am not skilled to understand, what God has willed, what God has planned.”
Lord, guide my plans to be in Your will.
